Godly Servant-Leadership
- Jesus said He didn’t come “to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many” (Mt. 20:28, NIV). Our leadership, beginning with the pastor, will strive to model itself after Jesus’ servant leadership. We will be people of integrity, and will serve those whom the Lord commits to our care.
- Ministry is not the possession of an elite few, but the responsibility of every member of the Body of Christ.
- All believers should participate in ministry and service to the church and to the world.
- Once someone asked Jesus what was most important in life. Jesus answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27) Love God and love people.
- Our greatest need, but often our greatest fear, is relationships. Having a relationship with God may be difficult for us if we grew up with a distorted view of God or the church. Due to divorce, having moved around a lot, or the “faceless” technology of our world, we may find it difficult to connect with other people. That’s why everything our church does will be centered on relationships – biblical, healthy, functioning relationships. We will show others that we love and care for people – not just in church, but in Wal-Mart, at work, in the grocery store.
- While the local church should have regular times of large, corporate celebrations, relationships are best established and nurtured in small groups. Small groups provide the environment for spiritual and emotional growth, as well as life change.
- Strong families are the foundation of a godly community. By strengthening marriages and equipping parents, families will be able to face the challenges of the 21st century.
- Authentic worship experiences are “now” encounters with the Holy Spirit that include dynamic praise and worship.
- Bible-centered preaching and teaching that satisfies the seeking soul and matures the believer.
- Drama, music and other forms of media are great ways to capture the real needs of people and to express the real answers God offers to us. We want to be open to the Spirit as we discover new ways to express the message of life in Jesus.
- Because “God so loved the world,” He expects us to be “World Christians.” We will devote time, energy, and money towards developing leadership and resources for world outreach.
- Reaching people who don’t know Christ or who are “unchurched” should be our priority. Lost people matter to God and should matter to us.
- People are the only thing we can take with us into eternity.
