Merge Student Ministry

Merge student ministry is all about our students and their relationship with Christ.  We call it Merge because Jesus teaches us to live singularly – that is – to “merge” how we live and what we believe.

Wednesday Night Worship

Our students meet for worship and small group Bible study on Wednesday nights from 6:00-8:00 pm. All teenagers are invited! The program is geared for students in grades 6th-12th. Sixth graders are eligible to enter Merge every year after July. Generally, our student band leads in music before a message from our student pastor, and the students divide up into small groups afterward for discussion.

Youth Camp and Revolution Weekends
Merge students attend a 5 day youth camp annually in July. For more information on dates, costs, and other camp details, see our Merge News or Merge Facebook pages.

We also provide weekend retreats called “Revolution Weekends” bi-annually during the spring and fall school semesters. Students meet at our church for worship, games and mission projects and stay in host homes from Friday evening until Sunday morning. For information on Revolution Weekend, see our Merge News or Merge Facebook pages.

        Our Student Pastor

Our student pastor, Phillip Cole and his wife, Alisha, moved to Shreveport in November of 2009 to work with the student ministry at Church at Red River.  They have been married since October of 2007.  Phillip grew up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and graduated from Southeastern Baptist College with a degree in the Bible in 2005.  He has been working in the ministry since the age of 17. Prior to working with students in Shreveport, they traveled with music and camp ministries.
